February 29th and March 1st, Spanish translation of Danish and Norwegian literature is on the program in Madrid
As a follow-up to the great interest that has been shown in Nordic writing -- including Danish literature -- in Spain in recent years, the Danish Arts Council's Literature Committee, in cooperation with the Nordic Literature Center (NORLA) and the Danish and Norwegian professor in Madrid, is sponsoring a translators seminar at Complutense University in Madrid.
Participating in the seminar will be professional Spanish translators from Danish and Norwegian as well as a large number of students interested in translation. The Danish Ambassador in Spain will participate in the opening which will include presentations on the publication of Nordic literature in Spain, on the translators' dilemma by the Danish translator and author Lars Bonnevie as well as presentations on Norwegian and Nordic literature by the Norwegian author Kjartan Fløgstad. Furthermore, the seminar will include workshops in which professional and less experienced translators will work with concrete translation problems.
